Ice Dragon Glue Sculpture SOLD by Sovriin Ice Dragon Glue Sculpture SOLD by Sovriin
Ive been wanting to do glue sculptures for absolutely AGES, and I was kinda bored the other day so I just decided to give it a go. I really really enjoyed it, its very therapeutic, and really fun to watch it slowly take shape. Im super pleased with the wings, they turned out great, and Im really happy with the overall shape, it just kinda...flows nicely XD

This dragon is made entirely from glue, with a thin wire armature running through for stability. The glue has been painstakingly layered up and sculpted by me, shaped to form a surprising amount of detail. I then used pearlescent powders to give it shimmery blue and purple accents, and a coat of varnish to hold the colour. The wire running through the dragon means that it has slight posability, though this is limited. The tail and wings can be moved, and slight changes to the neck and feet, but nothing excessive.

Unfortunately, glue is INCREDIBLY hard to photograph. Ive done my best, but theyre not great :L Personally, I think it looks much, much better in real life. The colours are more subtle and ethereal.

Feedback please! Id really appreciate if you could tell me what you think about the glue sculptures. Id love to do more, but theres no point if you guys don't like them. So, do you think I should do more? And, do you think my prices are good? Thanks ^^

Im also open for commissions if you are interested.

Ive had a few people asking about tutorials, so I think when I have a bit of spare time I will definitely make one! :)

that is awesome - i wonder if you have attempted to torch-polish it after it's done?  I know this can be done with acrylic to make it glossy.  Too bad ur in the UK or I'd send you my 40 spare glue sticks :P

Hmm Im not sure! Ill have to look into it, sounds interesting! The glue has a natural shine to it anyway, but glossy would be cool! Hehe thanks =P

I have collected dragons for many years, all sizes, all materials- as long as they appeal to me. There was one light green dragon, small, a little larger than my hand, but  I could never identify the stone. It crossed my mind that is might be colored "glue" or something similar, but later I decided no, it was just a clear green stone I was not familiar with- but I do see some similarities here, but your work is more real and has more character. I will check out your dragons and tell you what I think. At least I am an excellent judge of dragons!
